Integrated ESD and Signal Protection
The HDMI Protector is a single-chip integrated solution designed to safeguard high-speed lines with 13 channels of ESD clamp circuits. Its monolithic integrated circuit technology ensures excellent matching between signal pairs, adding little to no distortion to high-speed differential signals. This design offers a significant advantage over discrete solutions by maintaining superior signal quality while providing robust protection against electrostatic discharge.
Advanced 5V Electrical Compliance
This device incorporates an on-chip current-limited load switch that fully complies with HDMI 5V output electrical specifications. It features short-circuit protection at the 5V_OUT port to prevent damage during accidental grounds, as well as a reverse current blocking feature. This ensures that HDMI drivers are not erroneously activated when two devices are connected together, maintaining the electrical integrity of the entire system.
Voltage Discharge and Spark Prevention
To address the potential differences between system devices like STBs, DVDs, and HDTVs, the HDMI Protector includes specialized spark protection. It utilizes an LC circuit (inductors and capacitors) for ground isolation, which helps exhaust the voltage from quick discharges during cable connection. This prevents the "spark phenomenon" and protects sensitive internal components from being damaged by high-voltage impacts at the moment of connection.
